Members and volunteers enjoyed a
trip on the Judith Mary Longboat starting at
Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire.
We travelled along the Peak
Forest Canal for over two hours during which
everyone enjoyed a tasty two course lunch.
The apple pie was superb and
'home made' by the boat owners Grandmother, aged
90

Ernest and Marion's Diamond Wedding
Ernie opens the 'Royal
Card' given to him by his Daughter,
Sheila.
Nobody knew Sheila would be there so this
was a real surprise!
Of course she was asked to stay for
lunch!
The luncheon Club
arranged a surprise
celebration,the Major of Horwich,
Councillor Ken Thomson, was
invited and presented them with a
bouquet of flowers.
The
luncheon Club provided a huge birthday
cake, which was shared by everyone, and
Sandra presented Ernie and Marion with a
club invitation
to be taken out to lunch the following
week. Sandra collected Ernie and Marion
from home and drove them to the Calfs
Head at Wolsten, near Clitheroe.

portions were so large a 'take home
doggie bag' was provided for Marion's
side salad.
