Luncheon Club Activities and Trips 2010

"Judith Mary" boat trip

Thursday 5th August 2010

Members and volunteers enjoyed a trip on the Judith Mary Longboat starting at Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire.

We travelled along the Peak Forest Canal for over two hours during which everyone enjoyed a tasty two course lunch.

The apple pie was superb and 'home made' by the boat owners Grandmother, aged 90

Sandra proudly holds the photo book recording a visit made by HRH Princess Diana aboard the "Judith Mary"

Is this 'Judith and Judith' aboard the 'Judith Mary'?

And a good time was had by all!

Thursday 23rd September 2010
Ernest and Marion's Diamond Wedding

Ernie opens the 'Royal Card' given to him by his Daughter, Sheila.
Nobody knew Sheila would be there so this was a real surprise!
Of course she was asked to stay for lunch!

The luncheon Club arranged a surprise celebration, the Major of Horwich, Councillor Ken Thomson, was invited and presented them with a bouquet of flowers.

The luncheon Club provided a huge birthday cake, which was shared by everyone, and Sandra presented Ernie and Marion with a club invitation
to be taken out to lunch the following week. Sandra collected Ernie and Marion from home and drove them to the Calfs Head at Wolsten, near Clitheroe.

Ernie and Marion at The Calfs Head pub after enjoying a delicious lunch.

The portions were so large a 'take home doggie bag' was provided for Marion's side salad.
